Frank Sorenti founded Sorenti Brothers, Inc. in 1928. Frank began to deliver hay, wood, grain, and ice door to door. Frank was determined to make a name for himself. His parents, Luigi and Maria Sorenti, immigrated from Italy in 1890. They came to America in hopes of a better life and settled in Sagamore, Massachusetts. Frank’s life revolved around this business and his wife Rose, who had a big part in the business too; by being a cleaner, cook, and runner. This way of thinking was far before their time. Frank was still pumping gas at age 80.
Two of his brothers Dante "Pat" and Joe started to take a bigger role in the business. This is when a small snack bar and restaurant was opened on the Sagamore Rotary, later to be known as Eleanor's. When times began to change, so did we. The turning point was a new age of inventions being available to the public, like stoves, refrigerators, and even cars becoming more economical for the everyday person. Alongside selling all these products, they established gas stations from Sagamore Beach to Chatham.
Frank's son Joseph took over the business in 1973. Frank would often say; “I could hire three men and they wouldn't get as much work done as Joe does in one day.” Knowing how to do every aspect of the business, from service of customers to accounting, and everything in between, Joe was to be a master mechanic. A skill that worked to his advantage in expanding the business. During his time as president Joe sat on countless committees and boards, he always gave back to the community he loved so much.
In 1980, Joe was given the award of Cape Cod's Business Man of the Year. The recognition was humbling and appreciated. He also took his father's lead when it came to work and family. His world revolved around his 9 children and his wife Mary.
Joe loved working on the heavy machinery, he had his Hoisting Engineers license until 2020 and never stopped offering his keen insight. His passing in May of 2023 was felt by many all over the Cape and we know how fortunate we were to know and love such an incredible human being.
James and Michael both came into the business at a very young age but left to do other jobs to prove they were capable of making it on their own. They came back with experience, expertise, and drive. James worked as a motorcycle mechanic and an Air Force mechanic on F-15 fighter jet engines. Michael worked for several years fixing oil burners and delivering gasoline, diesel & fuel oil.
We expanded into heavy machinery and transportation services in 1990. Offering septic installation and excavation services. Hauling dirt, taking on construction, septic, & demolition projects. Having licenses in; septic installation, hoisting engineering, oil burner technician, and CDL drivers. We also offer dumpster and trash removal services to private and commercial customers.
Current operations are focused on leasing and developing real estate. We work with and have met some remarkable and innovative people along the way. Our clients always come first and we value the relationship we have with each of them. We've had the most wonderful employees over the years and have fostered a great network of professionals in various fields.
Today, the company is still driven by the core values of hard work, family, respect, and community. With the office being run by the next generation, we continue looking forward, watching our community and family grow, for many more generations to come.
